What time does sign up begin for High Power rifle matches and what time do they start?

Registration for the High Power Matches opens at 7:30 AM and is open until approximately 8:15 AM. First shot down range is about 9:00 AM

Two friends and I are interested in joining.
Problem is we are all committed each week to being in church on Wed at 7:00pm and that conflicts with your meeting attendance policy.
Can a work around be found for this?

You could contact our Secretary Ron Bekebrede and see what can be worked out. His email is This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it Best of luck to you, and I hope to see you at the range, soon.

I was wondering in there is a range open to the public for shooting pistols.

We are a members only club, but you are welcome to apply for membership.

Do you have a Skeet shooting facility at the Range?

The Southern Indiana Rifle and Pistol Club does not have an official Trap or Skeet operation at our outdoor range, but, we have a good working relationship with The Indian Creek Shooting Facility in Georgetown, Indiana. They have a great trap, skeet, and sporting clays set up . It is a public range and membership is not required. It is also where we have our indoor range.

Do you have "pits" with retractable targets for High Power rifle, like Camp Perry, or use the walk and paste method of scoring?

We have 6 military style target carriers in our pits that are used by members for informal practice and for our matches. We have firing points at 200 yards, 300 yards, and 500 yards.

Must you be a club member to participate in the High Power matches? What are the fees?

You do not have to be a member to attend and participate in any of our matches. The fees vary. Please contact the director of any particular match that you would care to attend

Why is a membership to the NRA required?

The NRA is an organization that offers many methods of support to shooters of all types, whether they be a hunter or a target shooter. We are a 100 per cent NRA member club. This allows us to take advantage of the NRA's vast resources in the firearms training area as well as the legal arena. They offer member programs that range from free firearms insurance to assistance in the design of new firing ranges, as well as many other forms of assistance. NRA membership is also something that we require because of their support of the Constitutional right to bear arms. The NRA is the main leader in the fight against the politicians who would remove all firearms from the American people. Without this basic freedom, there would be no need for the Southern Indiana Rifle and Pistol Club.

How do I become a member?

Becoming a new member is very easy. We require that all of our members belong to the NRA and that prospective members attend at least 2 monthly meetings. The meetings are held on the first Wednesday evening of each month at 7:00 PM. Bring a membership application, or get one at the meeting, proof of NRA membership, along with your dues for your chosen membership class and the $100 initiation fee. Your application will be read aloud at 2 meetings for current members to consider. After the second reading, if there are no objections, your membership card will be issued along with the combination to the gate at the outdoor range.

I am a skeet shooter that moved to Louisville. I am looking to sight in a new gun and do general plinking. Are you open to the public?

We are a private club, with no formal skeet field. But, our club dues are inexpensive enough to accommodate most any budget. And, we have a close association with the Indian Creek Shooting Center. They have a great trap and skeet venue. Contact us directly through email for more information.

How do I get started in a new discipline?

If you wish to enter a new sport, simply contact any of the officers or discipline organizers. Contact information is available by finding the activity on the calendar and selecting a date when a match is scheduled.

What does the $100 initiation fee cover? And for a family membership, who is covered?

The initiation fee is basically just that, an initiation fee. Each following year, only the membership fee is paid according to your membership status, whether it is family or individual. If, for some reason, you terminate your membership on a friendly basis, you may reapply for membership at a later date without having to pay the initiation fee again. A family membership covers you, your spouse, and all minor family members living with you or at school. A minor requires an adult to be present at the range at all times.

Is the in door pistol range open every day to practice. If so, What are the hours?

Our indoor range is currently only open specifically for matches and scheduled practice events. If enough interest can be shown, the Officers may be convinced to add more open access times. Attend a meeting and bring it up.

Where is the Indoor Range located?

The Indoor range is located at the Indian Creek Shooting Center in Georgetown, Indiana See the link at the left for a map.

What are the membership dues?

Dues for 2012 are as follows: Annual $50.00, Family $65.00, Senior $30.00 and a Life membership $500.00. A current NRA membership is also required.
