Good day to you!! We at the Southern Indiana Rifle & Pistol Club welcome any and all shooters to attend our Scheduled Long Range Centerfire Practice Days. We have scheduled the first Saturday of each month, March through December as Long Range Day. We will be shooting from the 500 yard berm exclusively. The range will be reserved until 2:00 PM eastern time. A nominal fee of $5 per shooter is requested to help with pasters, targets, and other pit supplies.
If you would like to be added to my SHOOTER email list, please send me your email address and indicate that you would like to be placed on the SHOOTER list. This will get you on all of the emails that I send out regarding shooting events.
If there are enough shooters we will squad up and shoot with pit service, rotating each shooter into the pits and onto the line.
If you have never pulled 'Pit Duty' before, do not be intimidated. It is an easy duty. There will be radio communication between the pits and the line. This assures the safety of all participants. As a shooter fires a round, the Target Puller will retract his target into the pits, spot the impact hole with a 3" spotter disc, score the target with a 6" scoring disc, and return the target to the fully exposed position. If the round is in the black part of the target, the spotter is placed with the White side out, and if the round is in the white portion of the target, the Black side of the spotter is turned out. This allows the shooter to visually locate the shot placement from as far away as 1000 yards, at other firing ranges. This is the same system that is used in the Garand Matches, the F Class Matches and the High Power Rifle matches. So, once you get accustomed to pulling and pasting, there will be no excuse for not entering one or more of the F Class matches or one of the High Power Rifle matches that are held here.
The shooter is not required to have each round spotted. If he wants to shoot for group, just tell the line officer and the Pit personnel will leave the target exposed for as long as the shooter wants. This allows the shooter to get on target with pit service and then shoot a group.
A shooter is not required to shoot at bulls eye targets. If you have a full size deer, crow, or groundhog target, that may also be posted.
If you are interested in participating in this adventure, either as your first expedition into the world of Long Range shooting, or as a grizzled member of the Long Range Shooting community, please contact me and we will set something up. My email is
