View from the SIRAPC 500 yard firing line
This is the view that greets visitors and competitors to the Southern Indiana Rifle & Pistol Club's outdoor range near Borden, Indiana. This photo was taken in early April from the 500 yard firing line near the railroad tracks.
The covered 25 point pistol and smallbore firing range is visible off to the right of center and the target shed is visible on the far right. Our property continues up and over the hill that is directly to the rear of the target areas.
As you continue down the lane you will pass the 300 yard line berm on the right and then arrive at the chain gate at the entrance to the larger part of the range. |
Here is an example of a 200 yard group that was fired from a new AR15. It was assembled from some of the best components available. Our High Power Rifle Director, Mark Mann, assisted with the selection of the parts and assembled the rifle. A load of 24.5 grains of Vitavhouri N140 powder was used with a Hornady 75 grain HPBT bullet and a Remington number 7-1/2 primer in once-fired Lake City brass acquired from Jeff Bartlett at www.gibrass.com. Approximately 100 rounds were fired through the rifle during the break-in period. This group was fired from 200 yards in the prone position with a shooting coat, a glove, and a tight sling. As you can see, there is definitely a round that went 'off call'. I hope to do better.
We hope to see you at one of our High Power Matches soon, or a Smallbore Rifle Match. Take a look at the Schedules on the links in the menu on the left side of the page. I hope that you have enjoyed the tour of our range. Come and see us, soon. |
